City Center Parking brings mobile payments to Portland with QuickPay
Portland parking company, City Center Parking, partners with Silicon Valley-based QuickPay to make it easier for drivers in Portland to find and pay for parking spaces downtown via Mobile App for iPhone and Android
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ - Following the acquisition of City Center Parking in December last year, Imperial Parking (U.S.), LLC (Impark), a leading provider of parking management solutions, is now announcing further improvements to parking in Portland. In addition to installing 85 new customer-friendly meters throughout lots in the city, Impark and City Center Parking have partnered with QuickPay Corp., a premier mobile parking and payment platform provider, to pilot new payment options and value-added services to City Center Parking facilities in downtown Portland.
The QP QuickPay service will initially be available in five City Center Parking facilities in downtown Portland this summer and, assuming a successful response to the initial deployment, will expand to other City Center Parking facilities later in the year. City Center Parking customers will be able to find and pay for parking with their mobile phones using the free QP QuickPay® smartphone app, available as a native app for iPhone® and Android™ and as a browser-based app accessible through any smartphone, including BlackBerry or Windows Phone. The service is also available to anyone with a phone via SMS text. For more information and to download the QP QuickPay app, visit get.qpme.com.
With QP QuickPay, parkers can skip waiting at the pay station and park without the hassle of cash, exact change, or the need to return to cars to display a receipt on the windshield. In addition to being able to pay securely with speed and convenience, drivers can receive text message alerts when their pre-paid time is running out, and add time remotely without having to return to their vehicle. Parking receipts and history are also available online, facilitating expense reporting.
"When we initially acquired City Center Parking, we set expectations that we would be improving the parking experience in Portland, and replacing many of the older pay-stations was just the start. We are pleased to now introduce mobile parking payments with QuickPay," said Kobie Brandt, Impark Senior Vice President. "We chose to partner with QuickPay because of the ability of their system to operate in garages with gates as well as surface lots. This has the potential to offer people in Portland the ability to pay at any City Center Parking location from a single app on their phone."
"We are delighted to partner with Impark, a leading parking operator with a strong track record of embracing new technology, to bring our service to the residents and visitors of Portland, itself a technology-friendly city," said Barney Pell, Chairman and CEO of QuickPay.
