CITIZENS OF HUMANITY Announces Mikhail Baryshnikov As First Subject In "Just Like You" Film Series
Two Dozen Innovators To Share Insights On Creativity Through Video Portraits And Design Of Charitable T-Shirts
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- People who explore the concept of creativity generally achieve greater creative results. With this in mind, fashion brand CITIZENS OF HUMANITY is empowering its audience to realize their creative potential through the launch of "Just Like You," a yearlong, monthly film series profiling the inspiration of more than 20 creative visionaries who influence the brand. As part of the program, each of the featured creatives will also collaborate with CITIZENS OF HUMANITY on unique events and the design of limited-edition t-shirts, which will be sold to benefit a charity of their choice at CitizensOfHumanity.com and select retailers. Legendary ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov and CITIZENS OF HUMANITY founder Jerome Dahan are the first two subjects in the series.

Jerome Dahan said, "As the company's name suggests, our mission is to showcase the energy and passion of creative individuals. This film series has provided me with the opportunity to honor people who inspire me, and it is my hope that this series will also inspire others."
The project was conceived in order to celebrate both creativity and humanitarian vision, so Baryshnikov was an ideal subject to lead with. In Baryshnikov's video, his central advice is that no one person is perfect – all you can do is try to be a better member of society each day. To celebrate his creative expression, Baryshnikov and CITIZENS OF HUMANITY hosted an exclusive event at a New York City art gallery to showcase his photography on September 28. Baryshnikov also collaborated with the brand on the design of a t-shirt featuring one of the dance photos from his exhibition. The limited edition t-shirts will be sold at CitizensOfHumanity.com with all proceeds benefitting The Baryshnikov Arts Center.
"You go through your daily routine with the hope that you will be a little better...and do something meaningful. I believe this program does something significant both in its philanthropy and in hopefully inspiring others in their creative journey," said Baryshnikov.
The project is being spearheaded by CITIZENS OF HUMANITY President, Amy Williams, and the video series was created and directed by Jared Freedman, an acclaimed documentary filmmaker and the Creative Director of Strategic Branding for CITIZENS OF HUMANITY. New subjects and videos will be released monthly, accompanied by each contributor's limited edition t-shirt. For more information, please visit http://www.citizensofhumanity.com/#!justlikeyou.
