Cities, Counties Across the Country Invited to Compete for Extreme Website Makeover
CivicPlus to Create New Government Websites Free-of-Charge for 11 Contest Winners
MANHATTAN, Kan., Nov. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Government website developer CivicPlus is inviting cities and counties across North America to enter its Extreme Website Makeover Contest. Each of 11 grand-prize winners selected will receive a free redesign and functional upgrade of their official government website.
"The tight economy has been choking city and county government budgets for years," said Ward Morgan, founder and president of CivicPlus. "As a result, many municipalities have put off making much-needed changes and upgrades to their websites, which ultimately translates into less service, less communication and less convenience for their citizens. The Extreme Makeover Contest is our way to give back to local communities and demonstrate how yesterday's government website can be transformed into today's community engagement platform."
The company's call for entries is open through Friday, December 9, 2011. Eleven grand-prize winners will be chosen, one from each CivicPlus operating region in North America. City and county government officials are invited to complete a brief entry form found on CivicPlus' website at http://www.civicplus.com/ewm.
Contest winners will be chosen based on factors including community need and age of current website. Each grand-prize winner will receive a free CivicPlus Premium website package valued at $25,000 to $30,000. Website packages will include:
- Award-winning graphic design
- Website set-up and secure hosting
- Custom page development
- Best practice training
- 24/7 customer support
- Two-year waiver of monthly maintenance fees
In addition, 10 runners-up will receive a $5,000 discount on a CivicPlus Premium website package. CivicPlus will notify winning entrants before December 31, 2011, and will publicly announce the winners at the end of January 2012.
