"We are proud of our community and the willingness to come together and help our neighbors. Improving these properties benefits not just the home owners, but everyone," said Walter J. Jacques, head of the Community Involvement Team at the Oklahoma State Department of Health. "We are grateful for our partners, including the CITGO OKC lubricants plant that came out today to clean-up these homes and help make the neighborhood a better place to live."
More than 24 volunteers from the lubricants plant joined volunteers from the JFKNA and OSDH to remove dead trees, clear sidewalks of dirt and weeds, mow overgrown grass and make other improvements as part of "Care and Repair" Day. CITGO, with support from Ron Walters Construction Services, provided construction equipment, lawn maintenance equipment, gloves and safety glasses and refreshments for the volunteers.
"We helped these families repair their properties with the hope that we provided much needed relief and sound care for them as well as their properties," said Bob Pine, plant manager of the CITGO OKC lubricants plant, "and neighbors that live in the area have expressed their appreciation to CITGO for these efforts."
