Cinco's the Charm! Kroger® Sponsors Fiesta Atlanta Cinco de Mayo Celebration for the 5th Consecutive Year
Celebrating Hispanic Culture and Heritage
ATLANTA, May 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Kroger, the nation's largest traditional grocery retailer, with over 170 stores in the state of Georgia, will lend its support again to the largest Cinco de Mayo celebration in the Southeast at Fiesta Atlanta at Centennial Olympic Park on Sunday May 5th, 2013.
As Fiesta Atlanta attendees listen to mariachis belting out rancheros and salsa rhythms fill the air, they can make their way down to the "Kroger Isle" -- an interactive and dynamic area for children and adults – which will be equipped with entertainment, many free product samples and information on popular food items as well as the opportunity for attendees to sign up and participate in the money saving Kroger Plus Card program.
"We are proud to partner and support Fiesta Atlanta," says Glynn Jenkins, Kroger Communications & PR Director, who says that they acknowledge and support the growing Latino population by providing Spanish and English language signage as well as bilingual staff in many stores. "We recognize the need to be authentic in the ways we connect with the Hispanic community and the need to offer culturally-relevant information about our products. Fiesta Atlanta allows for that interaction so that we can better learn how best to address the specific needs of our Hispanic customers as well as the community as a whole."
Founded by a son of immigrants, it is fitting that Kroger, which was named in 2012 to the Top 50 Organizations for Multicultural Business Opportunities in the United States, continues to exemplify a strong commitment to its diverse customer base by contributing $220 million annually in funds, food and products to local communities. "Kroger is a company which rose to success from humble beginnings and epitomizes the American dream," explains Ralph E. Herrera, President of Lanza Group, LLC and producer of Fiesta Atlanta. "This is something that all cultures, and especially Hispanics, can identify with. While we share a common entrepreneurial spirit, the Latino culture is also rich in music, art, and dance, and this event celebrates that richness."
The daylong event will feature live Latin international, national and local recording artists on two stages. The family stage will host lively, colorful acts like Mexican folkloric dancers, clowns, musicians and storytellers. Additionally, there will be handmade traditional crafts and delicious Latin foods to savor. In addition to the "Kroger Isle," other festival partners will also feature interactive displays and sample products.
