Nancy A. Rae, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Chrysler Group LLC, has been named a Human Resources Executive of the Year by the American Society of Employers (ASE), an affiliate of the Employer Associations of America.
Each year, ASE honors several special individuals who have dedicated their working lives and efforts to become outstanding human resource executives in their companies, industries and in the state of Michigan. Each nomination is evaluated based on the nominee's commitment to the HR profession, past and current successes, contributions to the community, impact on the lives of others, and the success of the nominee's company or organization.
Rae's award was in the category "Organizations with 1,000 or more Michigan Employees." She received the award at the ASE's Annual Summit last evening at the Detroit Athletic Club.
As part of the Chrysler Group Management Team, Rae's leadership has been instrumental in rebuilding the Company's workforce through the aggressive and strategic hiring of more than 16,000 employees since June 2009. She has initiated a comprehensive HR strategy to support Chrysler Group's high-performance work culture, which has included organizational restructuring, a new Performance and Leadership Management process and the adoption of people development and workplace safety-oriented World Class Manufacturing principles that have been implemented across all Chrysler Group manufacturing facilities.
A steadfast supporter of diversity and inclusion, Rae co-Chairs the Company's Diversity Council. Under her leadership, Chrysler Group has been named one of the "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers" by Working Mother magazine 13 times, and has been recognized six times by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation as one of the country's leading corporations supporting diversity and inclusion.
Chrysler Group also has been named to HispanicBusiness magazine's annual Diversity Elite 60 list for implementing strategies to reach more Hispanic customers and to pursue more business with minority- and Hispanic-owned suppliers. In 2012, the editors of LatinaStyle magazine selected Chrysler Group for inclusion on the magazine's 2012 list of the 50 best companies for Hispanic women to work in the U.S., which is considered the most important recognition of efforts by corporate America to promote diversity and provide career advancement opportunities for Hispanic women.
Rae has also modernized the Company's health and wellness strategy creating a "culture of health" at Chrysler Group, an award-winning approach that fosters a fully-engaged workforce that is healthy at home and at work. In 2012, the National Business Group on Health recognized Chrysler Group for the fourth consecutive year as one of the nation's leading corporations providing comprehensive programs that enable a healthy workplace and promote healthy lifestyles of employees and their families.
"This is a great honor that truly recognizes the dedication and hard work of so many Chrysler Group people who helped to create a Company that is a sustainable world-class competitor and an employer of choice," Rae said.
"This award is all about recognizing how critical the HR executive's leadership role is in today's workplace. It is all about influencing people at all levels, no matter what their respective roles, to align their own priorities with the overall mission of the organization. All four honorees are outstanding in this area," said Mary Corrado, President & CEO, ASE.
Rae has an automotive career spanning more than 30 years and has held the top Human Resources position for Chrysler Group since June 2000.
