Children's Hospital Colorado Expands T-System's ED Facility Coding Solution Enterprise-wide
Fast-growing pediatric health network expands T-System RevCycle+™ service to eight facilities
DALLAS, Sept. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- T-System, Inc. announced Children's Hospital Colorado will extend its advanced facility coding solution – now used in six facilities – to two new locations: Children's Hospital Colorado's South Campus in Highlands Ranch, opening in January, and another location in the summer of 2014.
The expansion is a direct response to the financial return the not-for-profit pediatric healthcare network emergency department (ED) has received from the solution so far. In total, T-System's ED facility coding solution helped Children's Hospital Colorado recover $13.6 million dollars in the first 7 months, or $269 per ED patient.
"T-System continues to pay for itself many times over," said Melinda Patten, MHA, RHIA, CHPS, CDIP, director of health information management at Children's Hospital Colorado. "Shortly after installing the solution in 2010, we discovered that numerous charges were being left on the table; we were missing a substantial amount of money that we were actually entitled to charge for."
Children's Hospital Colorado will employ the ED facility coding solution for all eight facilities located across the Denver area. The new locations will join the following healthcare organizations using the solution:
- EDs at Children's Hospital Colorado's main campus in Aurora, Children's Hospital Colorado at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, and Children's Hospital Colorado at Parker Adventist Hospital in Parker
- Urgent care centers at Children's Hospital Colorado North Campus in Broomfield, Children's Hospital Colorado Urgent Care and Outpatient Specialty Care in Littleton, and Children's Hospital Colorado Urgent and Outpatient Specialty Care in Wheat Ridge.
"We're very proud that Children's Hospital Colorado, one of the nation's top ranking pediatric hospital systems, chose to extend our facility coding solutions at its two newest patient care facilities," said T-System CEO Sunny Sanyal. "With reimbursement models becoming more complex, it is essential that a healthcare network growing as fast as Children's have robust revenue cycle management solution to get optimal outcomes and maintain rock solid compliance with regulations."
