Chester Community Charter School Students Celebrate the Conclusion of Black History Month with Oratorical Competition Finals
The top three classes in each grade will compete in the finals honoring the works of some great African-American writers, authors and orators
CHESTER, Pa., Feb. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- At 9:15 a.m., on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, Chester Community Charter School (CCCS) will honor the culmination of Black History Month with an Oratorical Contest Finals Competition. The event will take place in the CCCS West Campus Gymnasium, 2730 Bethel Road, Chester, PA 19013.
The contest finals will showcase the oratorical abilities of CCCS's students in grades Kindergarten through 1st. The contest consisted of in-class preliminaries and grade group semi-finals, with the top six classes competing in the all-school finals. Each class participating in the finals will recite group speeches, memoirs, poems, and spoken word that pay homage to the works of great African-American, writers, authors and orators. The judges will select the top three classes to win a first-, second- and third-place trophy.
About Chester Community Charter School
Chester Community Charter School opened its doors on September 9, 1998, serving 97 students from its modest, four, meeting rooms, in the lobby of the Howard Johnson Hotel, in Chester, PA. Since that time, the school has steadily grown to include more than 4,200 students in 12 state-of-the-art-buildings, spanning four campuses. Through collaboration with the Gureghian Charitable Foundation, and CCCS' High School Search and Selection Program, more than $9.5 million in scholarships and financial assistance to prestigious private secondary schools has been awarded to 350 of the school's graduates, since 2016.
