CheapAir ® Summer Flight Index Reveals the Cheapest Times to Travel
Online Travel Agency Crunches Over 900,000 Flights to Find the Best Times to Fly
CALABASAS, Calif., July 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Online travel agency CheapAir ® has published the 2014 Summer Cheap Flights Index™, an indispensable guide for travelers who want the very best fares for summer vacation. The data masterminds at CheapAir are analyzing over 11,000 flights per day – or over 900,000 flights over the summer – to give travelers cheap flight intel that can't be found anywhere else on the web.
2014 Summer Cheap Flights is the latest addition to CheapAir's flight index series, which shows travelers the best times to fly during the busiest travel seasons, such as the Holidays and Spring Break. The Summer Cheap Flights index shows average airfares for every day of the summer on an interactive graph, and this year's index also shows average fares by the day of the week. Between these two graphs, travelers can easily spot the best days to fly.
This year's index reveals that the lowest average fares can be found on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are predictably the most expensive. For weeklong trips, travelers can save an average of $77 per ticket if they travel on Tuesdays instead of Sundays. For travelers considering a trip in August, June is the best time to book; right now travelers can save an average of $100 traveling in August versus July.
As for Labor Day, people should avoid flying on Friday, August 29 and Monday, September 1. If possible, depart on Wednesday, August 27 and stay until Tuesday or Wednesday. Overall, the sooner travelers book, the better their odds of getting a good deal.
"We put a lot of time and resources into research and analysis so we can provide our customers with actionable intelligence that will help them make smarter decisions," said Jeff Klee, CEO of CheapAir. "We'll provide updates throughout the summer to help you fly as affordably as possible during the busy travel season."
