Chargeback Announced Today The Release of a New SaaS Product Aimed at Eliminating The Manual Work and Expertise Needed to Manage Credit Card Disputes Internally
SOUTH JORDAN, Utah, Dec. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Online sales will hit $2.3 trillion this year. The inherent difficulties of shipping, returns, theft and fraud will result in $9 billion being disputed. A result of the fact that online transactions are disputed 12X the rate of their brick and mortar counterpart. As brands invest in the online channel they often find themselves investing in new tech to manage it, much of which was never needed before.
The Chargeback App is one of these previously unnecessary, new tools for managing online retail. The new SaaS platform was built for internal teams and employees tasked with "managing disputes" e.g. responding to chargebacks. A skillset that has morphed from pulling paper receipts for your processor to logging in to many different vendors, gathering data and making sense of it to build a representment document that hopefully adheres to complicated chargeback rules set forth independently and uniquely by each payment network, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and now PayPal.
"Our ability to stay on top of changes to network operating rules and regulations is where the rubber meets the road. Most people managing disputes don't realize rules are updated twice a year by each network. Sometimes the changes are sweeping. When one of these knowledge workers leaves your team you feel the pain immediately. The app eliminates that risk. It allows anyone to manage disputes." - Dave Wilkes, Chargeback, CEO
With subscription plans starting at $99 a month, the new app is being enabled at merchants globally. A familiar list of out-of-the-box integrations includes WorldPay, Vantiv, First Data, CyberSource, PayPal, Stripe, Braintree, Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, PrestaShop and Recurly. The company plans to release a set of API's for partners and merchants allowing each to build custom integrations early next year.
"Having a dedicated resource managing disputes has been a challenge. My team has shared the workload but perfecting the process has been tough. For us it was a no brainer to leverage this. We can now focus more time and energy on other parts of our business and less time researching chargeback rules." - Elliot Bohm, CardCash, CEO
This new tool has the signature of many business process automation tools before it. It takes a traditionally manual process managed with word docs, spreadsheets and a heavy amount of user expertise and automates it with software. It's not necessarily fin-tech or payment-tech but it looks and feels like it. You might call it ops-tech, as it aims to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of existing operations.
