C.H. Guenther Delivers on Waffle Wager
SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- San Antonio based C.H. Guenther & Son, Inc., parent company of popular retail brands Pioneer, White Wings, Morrisons and Sunbird, announced today that it delivered on its wager to serve free waffles and coffee to University of Alabama fans and students at the Tuscaloosa, AL Waffle House upon the win against Texas A&M.
"Prior to the Alabama and Texas A&M game, I reached out to Bill Smith Jr., Chairman of Royal Cup Coffee, a Birmingham-based company who is also a long-term partner supplier to Waffle House Restaurants," according to Dale W. Tremblay, President and CEO of C.H. Guenther & Son, Inc. "It was a simple bet...if Texas A&M won, Royal Cup would serve free waffles and coffee in College Station, and if Alabama won, Guenther would do the same in Tuscaloosa."
The game, which occurred on Saturday, September 21st in College Station, was a classic hard fought football game. Although Alabama came out with the win, clearly everyone enjoyed a great game.
Executives from C.H. Guenther, Royal Cup and Waffle House were in Tuscaloosa yesterday for the first six hours of the 24-hour waffle and coffee giveaway. "It was a pretty wild but gratifying experience. All of the Alabama fans that participated were both gracious and thankful.
"The most difficult part of the event was trading out my A&M hat for a Bear Bryant hat, and trying to be polite by saying 'Roll Tide'! It was great fun!"
