Centerplate Wraps Up Super Bowl XLVII in Style, Releases Final Sales Figures for Big Game
Per Capita Spending on Food and Drink Tallied at Record $91.45
NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Centerplate, the largest hospitality partner to North America's premier sports stadiums, convention centers, and entertainment venues, reported today that Super Bowl fans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome spent an average of a record breaking $91.45 on food and beverage at Super Bowl festivities. Despite the partial loss of power at the Superdome, Centerplate's food storage, refrigeration and preparation equipment were not impacted, and all hospitality locations remained open while play was stopped on the field.
These figures show that Super Bowl fans enthusiastically embraced Centerplate's Cajun celebration of New Orleans favorites and flair, as leading national food publications also gave kudos to Centerplate's stadium menu. Working with renown New Orleans chef Donald Link, Centerplate treated fans to: Alligator Chili, Roast Beef Debris Po' Boy, BBQ Shrimp and Grits, Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, Crawfish Pies and Chef Donald Links' Chicken Sauce Piquant.
"There's nothing quite like a true New Orleans celebration, and we're incredibly proud to have provided NFL fans with an authentic taste of this city's flavors and flair. Our philosophy is to always focus on the fan first, and I think the sales figures prove that fans embraced our New Orleans celebration, just like our chefs embraced New Orleans' culinary traditions," says Centerplate Senior Vice President, Greg Fender.
As part of its commitment to community partnership, Centerplate also helped local non-profit groups raise thousands of dollars through their volunteer efforts at the game. In addition, Centerplate partnered with the leading social enterprise firm Juma to provide jobs to 50 low-income New Orleans college-age students at the game. Through special saving accounts established with Juma, these students will be able to save their Super Bowl wages for college education, with Juma matching those dollars two-to-one.
