Centerplate Remains Driving Force at Detroit's North American International Auto Show
Hospitality Leader Feeds and Fuels over 800,000 Auto Enthusiasts
DETROIT, Jan.12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Centerplate, the largest hospitality partner to North America's premier sports stadiums, convention centers and entertainment venues, is proud to serve as the hospitality host at the 2012 North American International Auto Show being held at Cobo Center, in the heart of downtown Detroit. Over the two-week show, Centerplate will serve over 800,000 guests, catering approximately 103,000 private meals with a total revenue projected at $2.8 million. To ensure world-class hospitality on such a massive scale, Centerplate will staff 32 front-of-house managers, 52 local executive chefs, and over 650 service personnel.
Auto industry leaders, and enthusiasts, will notice a number of significant upgrades this year at Cobo Center. Notably, Centerplate has sought to celebrate Detroit and its culinary and cultural scenes by offering guests traditional regional flavors and favorites, local Detroit restaurant specialties, and exclusive menu concepts created for the Auto Show. Centerplate has again teamed up with Andiamo, Detroit's iconic fine dining Italian restaurant to develop the restaurant, the Vu, a full service fine dining restaurant overlooking the Detroit River. The menu will feature Andiamo's signature broccoli chicken Alfredo and spaghetti alla Andiamo. Centerplate is again partnering with Fresh Roasted Nuts and Priya, the finest Indian cuisine in Detroit.
New this year, Centerplate is implementing the Snacksmart Program, designed to provide a compelling "healthier for you" option for our guests. Snacksmart will be sold at the Go Gourmet location as well as a prize option for the kids coloring contest. Also new this year is the gourmet hot dog stand. Menu items include:
- Detroit Coney Dog - All beef hot dog topped with chili, diced onions and mustard.
- New Yorker - All beef hot dog topped with tomato stewed onions and brown mustard.
- Chicago Dog - All beef hot dog topped with diced onions, tomato slices, sports pepper, pickle spear and celery salt
- LA Dog - All beef hot dog topped with pico de gallo, sliced jalapeno, and avocado mayo
Beyond local flavors, Centerplate is proud to feature the sounds of the "Motor City", by showcasing local musicians, a crucial part of the true Detroit dining experience. Centerplate's design team has also given a make-over to many sections of Cobo Center. The company has deployed a new state-of-the-art point-of-sale system to speed guest service and has also constructed seven full temporary kitchens on the show floor to expand the facility's cooking capacity and increase guest satisfaction and convenience.
