Centerplate Brings All Natural Offerings To The Cobo Center
Exciting food concepts featuring natural, healthy and sustainable grab-and-go options
DETROIT, Jan. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Guests at the Cobo Center in Detroit will soon be treated to a redesigned and reenergized hospitality concept, Go Natural, thanks to event hospitality partner Centerplate. With the newly designed offerings in place, Cobo Center will be going natural, with more fresh offerings, gluten free foods, fresh vegetables, and healthier-for-you options than ever before.
Committed to reinforcing Cobo as one of the premier meeting destinations in the United States, Centerplate will continue to improve the guest hospitality experience by replacing and redesigning the Center's grab-and-go dining options. The new hospitality location will serve breakfast, lunch and snacks to convention guests during shows and events.
"The Go Natural launch is just step one of a plan to reinvent and focus the food identity of Cobo. By late spring of this year the plan will be complete with the opening of the renovation of the Cobo Arena that will become the 250 seat food court area, in which we'll be offering 4 more new concepts all with a strong Detroit feel and flavor," said John Sergi, Chief Design Officer of Centerplate Stir.
Central to the new hospitality plans at the Cobo Center is the extensive use of natural, healthy and sustainable ingredients. With packaging that is sustainably made and fully biodegradable, the hospitality food and beverage offerings will be sourced from well-known suppliers specializing in natural products. All items will be made fresh daily and to the greatest extent possible, produce will be sourced locally. New menu items will include:
- Natural Yogurt Muffins from Morrison's Pastry
- Egg and Cheddar Breakfast Sandwich featuring Thomas' 100% Whole Wheat English Muffins
- Turkey Sandwich featuring Dietz and Watson deli meats
- Tuna Nicoise Salad with pole-line caught American Tuna
- Asian Chicken Wrap featuring natural Coleman chicken breast
- Hand-crafted natural soups from Kettle Cuisine
- Veggie Sandwich with Sabra's Classic Hummus
"The new healthy food menu by Centerplate simply tastes wonderful and gives our guests another good reason to come to Cobo and stay at Cobo," said Thom Connors, the convention center's general manager.
The grab-and-go items feature foods with no additives, preservatives or artificial flavors and coloring. The wide range of offerings cover many dietary and nutritional requirements that guests may have. Additionally, Centerplate has redesigned the entire service area with a new fresh and bright aesthetic look, added seating and introduced new employee uniforms.
"We're thrilled that our exciting new plans for the Cobo Center have been met with such enthusiastic community support and anticipation," says Jason Hougard, Centerplate's General Manager at Cobo Center. "I know our guests will enjoy these new natural additions to our menu offerings."
