Open Casting Saturday, June 5th, 2010 For Hot Men & Their Cats Campaign to Create Awareness, Boost Animal Adoptions & Save Lives of Shelter Cats Nationwide
Hosted By Found Animals, Photographer Adam Bouska & BrownTrout Publishers
LOS ANGELES, May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Found Animals Foundation (www.foundanimals.org) is joining forces with award winning, celebrity/fashion photographer Adam Bouska (www.bouska.net) to develop an innovative campaign to save lives by bringing attention to the millions of shelter cats in need of homes nationwide. The event features an open casting call to find 12 sexy studs and their pet cats for a global companion cat campaign and calendar titled "6 Packs/9 Lives." The open auditions will be held on Saturday, June 5th, 2010 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, in Downey, CA at SEAACA (www.seaaca.org), the South East Area Animal Control Authority, which is home to the Found Animals kitty adoption annex, "The ModPawd." The auditions are open to all men who have a pet cat as well as what it takes to appear in the calendar. All contestants must be prepared to prove that their cuddly kitty truly belongs to them.
"6 Packs/9 Lives" is not only a one-of-a-kind project, but will be the first calendar ever published to incorporate sexy men and their cats. To brand the campaign and boost global public awareness, Bouska will bring his artistry and unique style to photograph the hot men and their cats. Bouska's work has been featured within various mediums including the New York Times, Life & Style magazine, Guinness Book of World Records 2010, Chelsea Lately, the TODAY show, The View, CNBC, and more. He also is noted for his work with celebrities such as Barry Manilow, Meghan McCain, Deepak Chopra and Lisa Ling. Bouska's most recent acclaim has been for his involvement with the NOH8 Campaign, a silent photo protest and non-profit organization he co-founded to raise mass awareness for human equality.
"6 Packs/9 Lives," will be published and distributed by BrownTrout Publishers, Inc. (www.browntrout.com). Found Animals is ecstatic to partner with BrownTrout (the largest calendar publisher worldwide) to publicize the life saving messages within the calendar. Ongoing promotion of the winning men and calendar will include various media outlets such as broadcast news, morning talk shows, radio programs and others. Proceeds from the calendar will be used to improve the lives of shelter animals and support various initiatives including spay and neuter services, microchip programs and adoption of shelter animals and homeless cats and dogs globally.
"6 Packs/9 Lives" was developed to promote cat adoptions and to bring attention to the millions of cats and other animals that end up in municipal shelters each year nationwide. Due to minimal awareness in regard to shelter locations, these facilities are consistently overcrowded and underfunded. As a result, many facilities are forced to put down most of their animals simply for the lack of space.
"The '6 Packs/9 Lives' calendar campaign uses a fun and sexy medium to attract attention and highlight the issue of overcrowded cat populations within shelters across the country," noted Aimee Gilbreath, Executive Director of Found Animals. "This calendar and the men that appear in it will bring much needed attention to an issue that's become a national, yet still silent, epidemic. Through this initiative we'll be able to find homes for countless animals and encourage people everywhere to visit their local municipal shelters to adopt their first or next pet. For every animal adopted from a shelter, three lives are saved. In that context, our sexy calendar may reflect a tremendous impact on the animal shelter system nationally," she added.
The casting will feature a panel of judges to choose the winners. Each of the male finalists, who will be selected earlier that day, will walk a catwalk and answer questions for the judges in the afternoon. The judges will rate each contestant, scores will be tallied and winners will be announced. Each of the winning men will be professionally photographed for the "6 Packs/9 Lives" calendar. Final decisions will be made and top 12 contenders will be chosen. Various media outlets will be invited to cover the June 5th event.
For anyone who cannot attend the open casting on Saturday, June 5th, 2010 but still would like to enter the contest, please e-mail a digital video submission no longer than three minutes to [email protected]. The video must be of the contestant and his cat, with an explanation of why the cat is a great companion, why the pair should be selected for the calendar and why the contestant could not attend the live casting. The submission also should include any form of proof that the contestant is the owner of his cat, including paid vet bills, past photos of the contestant and his cat and a bill or receipt that expresses rightful ownership. Video submissions will be accepted until May 29th, 2010.
