TORONTO, Jan. 28, 2015 /CNW/ - The Canadian Journalism Foundation is pleased to announce that Peter Mansbridge will host its annual CJF Awards. Celebrating 25 years of journalistic excellence, the event will take place in Toronto at The Fairmont Royal York on June 3.
"No matter the platform, a single story can resonate with an individual, or with thousands; it can effect change in a single community, or across the country," says Mansbridge, chief correspondent of CBC News and host of The National and Mansbridge: One on One. "And the CJF, over the past 25 years, has discussed, recognized and celebrated those stories, essentially honouring the work that we all do."
The CJF Awards is the industry's must-attend event: it honours individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to journalism and recognize those who show exceptional promise.
Highlights of the evening will include the presentation of the CJF Tribute, which this year honours Malcolm Gladwell for his pioneering work as a journalist and author, and the new CJF Innovation Award, which will recognize new approaches that have advanced the quality of journalism.
Other awards to be presented include: the Lifetime Achievement Award, the Excellence in Journalism Award (presented to winners in two categories: large media and small media), The Landsberg Award, the CJF Aboriginal Journalism Fellowships, the Greg Clark Award, the Tom Hanson Photojournalism Award, the William Southam Journalism Fellowships, the Atkinson Fellowship in Public Policy and the Martin Wise Goodman Canadian Nieman Fellowship.
The Canadian Journalism Foundation thanks the following organizations for their support: RBC, BMO Financial Group, Labatt Breweries of Canada, Accenture, Manulife Financial and Shaw Communications. Thank you also to CBC News, CNW, Maclean's, Metro, The Globe and Mail, National Post and Toronto Star for their in-kind support.

About The Canadian Journalism Foundation
Established in 1990, The Canadian Journalism Foundation promotes excellence in journalism by celebrating outstanding journalistic achievement. Our signature events include an annual awards program featuring a must-attend industry gala where Canada's top newsmakers meet Canada's top news people. Through J-Talks, our popular speakers' series, we facilitate dialogue among journalists, business people, academics and students about the role of the media in Canadian society and the ongoing journalistic challenges in the digital era. The CJF also supports journalism websites J-Source.ca (English) and ProjetJ.ca (French) and fosters opportunities for journalism education, training and research.
