NEW YORK, Oct. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- (RED) - the organization founded by Bono & Bobby Shriver to fight AIDS – today debuts a new video to highlight that the world can deliver the first AIDS FREE GENERATION in over 30 years.
Every day 650 babies are born with HIV, yet life-saving HIV/AIDS medication which can prevent mothers passing the virus on to their babies costs as little as 40 cents a day. In 2013, for the first time since the discovery of the virus, more people were newly added to treatment than were newly infected with HIV, a critical milestone marking the beginning of the end of AIDS.
With the message that only action and urgency will see the AIDS fight won, the video features a striking soundtrack; a track chosen by (RED), and one which is written and performed by 23 year old Catey Shaw. The track is poignantly entitled 'Revolution', and significantly, it will now help raise awareness and money to fight AIDS.
Discovered three years ago playing her ukulele on the platform at the 23rd Street subway station in New York City, 'Revolution' is the second track released by Catey, and follows 'Brooklyn Girls' which propelled her from an unknown artist to one covered by Time, MTV, Billboard and the Huffington Post, among many others. Showcasing her vocal influences which range from Billie Holiday to Carole King, 'Revolution' provides a poignant lyrical narrative to the new (RED) video which highlights how everyone – people and businesses – has a role to play in fighting AIDS.
Catey's latest release, "The Brooklyn EP," is out now.
