Carolyn O'Neil To Moderate "Nutrition: Who Is Shaping America's Eating Habits?" Discussion At The Food Dialogues®: Washington, D.C.
U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance to Convene Panel at USDA Agricultural Outlook Forum
CHESTERFIELD, Mo., Feb. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance® (USFRA®) will convene a panel of farmers, ranchers, nutritionists and food pundits for a discussion on food production, nutrition and making healthy food choices this morning from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. EST at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Va. The Food Dialogues®: Washington, D.C. is part of the USDA Agricultural Outlook Forum.
"Health and nutrition are paramount to what we do as food producers, so this is an extremely important discussion and the USDA Agricultural Outlook Forum is a great venue," said Bob Stallman, chairman of USFRA and president of the American Farm Bureau Federation. "Consumers encounter food terms such as organic, conventional, locally grown, sustainably grown and natural on a daily basis, but do they really understand their meanings when making their purchasing decisions? Our panel will examine these terms and discuss making healthy food choices at the store. "
Carolyn O'Neil, the author of "Slim Down South Cookbook" and a nutrition advisor to BestFoodFacts.org, will moderate the discussion "Nutrition: Who is shaping America's eating habits?" Panelists include:
- Dr. Roger Clemens, Chief Scientific Officer, Horn and Adjunct Professor of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences, USC School of Pharmacy, Los Angeles, Calif.
