Carol McCarthy Duhme Recognized for Dedication to Civil Work

ST. LOUIS, Aug. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Carol McCarthy Duhme is a distinguished biographee of Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are chosen from among a pool of the most prominent professionals and are selected on the basis of current reference value. A widely regarded civil worker, Ms. Duhme is noted for her commitment to the St. Louis Association Congregational Church. For several years, she assisted the church as a member of the board of deacons, member of the church council, and chairman of the board. In addition, Ms. Duhme was recognized as a member of the board of directors with the North Side Team Ministry from 1968 to 1984. Although she is retired, Ms. Duhme remains active in her community as a former president of the board of directors and chairman of the annual fund with the YWCA in St. Louis.
Early in her career, Ms. Duhme completed a Bachelor of Arts through Vassar College in 1939. Since then, she has been selected to receive the Mary Alice Messerley Award for Volunteerism from the Health and Welfare Council in St. Louis in 1971, Volunteer of the Year Award from the YWCA in 1976, and Woman of Achievement Award from the St. Louis Globe-Democrat in 1980. Ms. Duhme received an Outstanding Lay Women Nomination from the Missouri United Church of Christ in 1991, and Outstanding Alumna Award from the John Burroughs School in 1992.
A respected voice in the field of social work, Ms. Duhme was recently selected to receive the Dean's Medal from the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis in 2015. She was previously awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Women's Foundation in Greater St. Louis in 2011, and Humanitarian Award from Planned Parenthood in St. Louis in 2000. Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Duhme has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in the World. In addition, she was awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters by the Eden Theological Seminary in 2002.
