Caregiver, Inc. to Expand Management Leadership Program, Focus on Superior Service Delivery
LEAD Program's First Year Results in Texas Show Marked Uptick in Employee Retention
FORT WORTH, Texas, Dec. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- As managed care for IDD services expands and becomes more competitive, Caregiver, Inc. CEO Mark Lashley is employing fresh strategies to assure superior service delivered by a stable workforce and meet his goal of securing a path to Employer of Choice in the IDD industry.
His growth strategy depends on stability within an industry that has historically fielded challenges with high employee turnover when providing intermediate, home and community care services to individuals who qualify as developmentally or intellectually disabled (IDD) or are impacted by related conditions.
To meet the challenge, in summer 2017 he charged then-newly hired Chief Human Resources Officer Dau Tucker with creating a strategic initiative to guide and grow business and organizational leaders, inspire engagement, improve professional identity, improve employee retention, and train company managers so they could excel in their roles.
Today, Tucker's program, LEAD: Leadership Expedition and Development Program, has helped reduce turnover at Caregiver by 30 percent.
"Too often, service for the IDD population has focused on state mandates and rules for individuals' care, without focus on developing the people who provide the care," she stressed. "We wanted to be creative while compliant and develop a program to enhance the skills of our leaders while creating an environment of high engagement."
The April 2018 initial Texas LEAD session in Austin launched a process that rolled out throughout Texas and will soon expand company-wide. The program will move into Tennessee, Indiana, and Ohio before the end of the first quarter of 2019.
"There are many challenges in our industry; however, those challenges should not prevent us from celebrating individual achievements and investing in our staff," said Tucker.
