CARE Awards Slated to Honor Child Stars in Conjunction with Resolution by City of Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, April 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This year the City of Los Angeles and BizParentz Foundation are determined to give child actors their due. The City will make a Resolution on behalf of BizParentz Foundation on April 29, with the official "Child Actor Appreciation Day" being celebrated the following day at the CARE Awards. CARE (aka Child Actor Recognition Event) will be held at Universal Studios Hollywood.
The celebration begins online this week, as child actors across the nation are encouraged to visit the BizParentz website (http://www.bizparentz.org/resources/childactorappreciation.html) for downloadable activities and a commemorative certificate. Parents can also visit the BizParentz Facebook to network with each other online. The party then moves to Los Angeles City Hall, where BizParentz Foundation will accept their resolution on Friday, April 29, at the regular City Council meeting. The celebration culminates with a red carpet event honoring 150 current child actors, on Saturday, April 30.
CARE Awards are sponsored by BizParentz Foundation, and are based on a unique point system where young performers (18 and younger) must qualify with a combination of professional acting work in 2010, academics, union membership, training, a written essay, community service, parent industry knowledge, and several other criteria.
This year's event will also honor three adults: former child actor Erin Murphy, who audiences will recognize as Tabitha from Bewitched, and producers Sherwood and Lloyd Schwartz (The Brady Bunch, Gilligan's Island). The hope is that current actors can learn from the positive example of adults who were successful in their careers and their personal lives. In addition, the attendees will be treated to entertainment by world famous Extreme Artist, Jean Francois Detaille.
Proceeds from the event benefit the BizParentz Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to education, advocacy and charitable support to parents and children engaged in the entertainment industry.
Child actors and their families are encouraged to visit the BizParentz website over the next few weeks as activities there are updated. The CARE Awards is an invitation only event, but there are some seats still available for entertainment industry related families. Tickets to the event are $150 and include entrance to Universal Studios Hollywood. For ticket information please email BizParentz Foundation at [email protected].
