BOTHELL, Wash., Feb. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cardiac Science Corporation (Nasdaq: CSCX), a global leader in automated external defibrillator (AED) and diagnostic cardiac monitoring devices, accelerated the availability date to February 2010 for the AED software update announced on November 13, 2009, well in advance of the previously estimated May 2010 date.

The software will enhance the AEDs' self-test capabilities and improve detection of a component-related issue in certain AEDs manufactured between August 2003 and August 2009. The Company had announced a voluntary field correction on these AEDs on November 13, 2009. In that announcement, the company estimated the software update would be available by May 2010.
The Company has since been able to substantially accelerate the delivery schedule and the software update will now be available to customers of certain models beginning the second half of February. The Company currently anticipates the software update to be available to all affected customers by the end of March 2010.
Customers will be notified by letter when the software update for their affected model is available. The software update will be made available for download at http://www.cardiacscience.com/AED175. At that site, customers who prefer printed documentation and a CD with the software update from the Company may request it.
Cardiac Science President and CEO Dave Marver said, "We have made every effort to accelerate the development of the software update and are pleased to make this field correction available to our customers earlier than expected."
As before, the Company strongly advises customers to follow the normal testing and maintenance procedures found in the Operator and Service Manual. A copy of these procedures is available at http://www.cardiacscience.com/AED175. At this site, customers may confirm if their AED is affected and register for automatic e-mail reminders to conduct scheduled maintenance.
