NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Captain D's, the leading fast casual seafood restaurant, announced today the opening of its newest corporate owned restaurant in Easley, South Carolina. Located at 5806 Calhoun Memorial Highway, this new location marks the brand's 30th in the state and emphasizes Captain D's accelerated franchise and corporate development plans for South Carolina. The Easley restaurant will celebrate its grand opening on November 2, starting with a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m., attended by Mayor Larry Bagwell and local dignitaries, as well as members of the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce.
Over the past year, Captain D's has continued to establish South Carolina as a prime market for development, with openings across the state in cities including Spartanburg and Boiling Springs. Most recently, the company announced a new franchised location in Hartsville that opened last month. Showcasing the brand's remodeled beach design, the new Easley restaurant is 2,800 square feet, includes a drive-through and will employ 20-25 people.
"This year has been one of tremendous growth for Captain D's, as we continue to propel the brand forward with aggressive expansion in South Carolina," said Michael Arrowsmith, chief development officer for Captain D's. "The success our existing franchised and corporate restaurants are experiencing in the market has emphasized the incredible potential we have in South Carolina, which is why the company is investing in corporate development. We're confident this momentum will continue as we head into 2017, and are eager to further grow the Captain D's brand in South Carolina."
The opening in Easley comes on the heels of the outstanding success Captain D's has experienced in 2016, closing out the third quarter of the year with its 20th consecutive quarter of positive growth, generating a 2.8 percent system-wide same store sales increase. Additionally, Captain D's is on track for its fourth successive year of achieving record high system-wide AUV and its sixth consecutive year of same store sales increases.
Coupled with its ongoing menu innovation, Captain D's credits its new restaurant beach design with contributing to the brand's compounding success. To date, 50 percent of all restaurants have been reimaged to the brands new vibrant, coastal design, with another 50 locations to be remodeled by the end of this year. With these efforts, Captain D's has remained true to what it does best — serving high-quality seafood with warm hospitality at an affordable price in a welcoming atmosphere.
With 515 restaurants in 21 states, Captain D's is the fast-casual seafood leader and number one seafood franchise in America ranked by average unit volume.
