Capitol Cafeteria to Receive New Furniture, Seating Area Redesign
HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Department of General Services today announced that the Capitol Cafeteria will receive new furniture and a redesigned customer seating area starting this weekend.
The cost of the furniture is $151,000. No taxpayer money was used to purchase the furniture, since the purchase was made through the State Restaurant Fund.
The fund, authorized by the legislature, can be used to purchase furniture, fixtures, and equipment needed to operate the cafeteria. Monies in the fund come from a percentage of the profits made by cafeteria sales.
The existing furniture, which is more than 10 years old, will be resold through the state's supplies and surplus operation warehouse.
Work to install the new furniture will begin at the close of business today. Work will include the installation of 40 new tables, 162 new chairs, six new booths, two new curved half-wall booths, and 14 new receptacles for trash and recycling.
The renovation to the customer seating area will be completed when the cafeteria reopens for business on Monday morning at 7:30 a.m.
