Dr. Johnson resides in Braintree, MA and is the Academic Coordinator for the Master of Education in School Nursing program within Cambridge College's National Institute for Teaching Excellence. Her distinguished career path includes designing and teaching curriculum specific to graduate education for school nurses; implementing health and wellness programs; managing grants; and serving as both a teacher and school principal. She is a leading advocate for the profession of school nursing, working with both the National School Nurses Association and the New England School Nurses Association.
The National Institute for Teaching Excellence (NITE) program begins with a three-week residency in the summer. Upon returning to work, school nurses complete coursework through distance learning, and return to Boston for a one- week intensive during the second summer to complete their Master of Education degree.
"What makes the NITE program so appealing is that it's a Master of Education program designed specifically for those working in the school nursing profession," says Kristin Poppo, Executive Director of NITE. "This means that students are surrounded by—and learning from—their peers within a setting that fosters collaboration and creative problem solving."
Cambridge College extends its congratulations to Dr. Johnson for her selfless work in advancing both the recognition and profession of school nursing.
