Ms. Valsamis began her career in 1986 focused on communications and public relations working for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Pennsylvania, a consulting firm for non-profits, and the Harvard Graduate School of Education. While at Harvard, she held the roles of Director of Public Information, Director of Communications and Director of Project Development and Foundation Relations. During her tenure she paid particular attention to seeking school-wide opportunities for cross-faculty grants collaboration. It was through these efforts, working closely with both faculty and the Dean to develop a new voice and sense of pride for the School, that she was also able to achieve new fundraising success for the School.
In 2002 Ms. Valsamis joined the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation and stayed with this leading institution until her transition to Cambridge College. She held the titles of Director of Program and Resource Development, Director of Development and Leadership and, most recently, as Vice President of Development. A small sample of her achievements while at the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation include underwriting the Profiles in Courage Award ($10.2 million), establishing a leadership giving council that secured $300,000 in its first year, and achieving a $5.5 million fundraising budget, as well as several record fundraising goals in the last two years.
Shares Ms. Valsamis, "I look forward to working with all of Cambridge College's stakeholders to strengthen this very special institution of higher education and advance its mission of educational access. The College helps individuals achieve their educational and career goals and sustains the social fabric of our communities, not only in Massachusetts, but also in the states and regions where our regional centers are located. I am thrilled to be a part of this work."
Ms. Valsamis holds a bachelor of arts from the University of Pennsylvania and a master of education from Harvard University.
