Calling All Seattle Storm Fans to "Take Your Health by Storm"
The Seattle Storm and LifeWise Health Plan of Washington Team up to Motivate Fans to Live Healthier
SEATTLE, June 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Seattle Storm and LifeWise Health Plan of Washington have teamed up to launch the 2014 Take Your Health By Storm campaign that encourages Storm fans to begin their journey toward leading a healthier life. The center of this year's campaign is the Seattle Storm All-Star Team, which is made up of Storm fans and LifeWise Ambassadors who are all working toward personal health goals. The All-Star team will be coached and mentored by Storm player Sue Bird and LifeWise Honorary Director of Health and Inspiration Ariana Kukors. The campaign officially goes live today and will run throughout the Storm's 2014 season.
"We are excited about partnering with LifeWise to extend the reach of Take Your Health by Storm," said Storm President and CEO Karen Bryant. "No matter where folks are with their fitness and nutrition levels, we are excited to continue to provide accessible tips and ideas to encourage Storm fans to live a healthy, active lifestyle."
Throughout the campaign, the Take Your Health by Storm All-Star team will track their progress on social media, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and fans are encouraged to follow along and support the team's journey. The Storm and LifeWise will also host a number of community events throughout the Puget Sound region, including hiking and kayaking activities, in which the entire community is welcome to participate. These events will cater to a variety of fitness levels, offering something for everyone, no matter where they are on their health journey.
"Take Your Health by Storm aligns with everything we represent at LifeWise," said Jim Havens, CEO of LifeWise Health Plan of Washington. "We are committed to being a health support partner for our members and encouraging them on every step of their journey to living a healthier life. We are excited to partner with the Seattle Storm to positively impact the health of Storm fans and the broader community."
The Take Your Health by Storm All-Star team will be unveiled at the Storm's June 6, 2014 home game against the 2013 WNBA champions, the Minnesota Lynx.
Bryant began the Take Your Health by Storm campaign in 2013, following a realization that a lifelong career in sports and the demands that come with it, had taken a toll on her body. She made a public pledge to reenergize a healthy lifestyle, and actively invited Storm fans to join her for various outdoor activities throughout the summer.
