The Institute is delivering palliative care education through its online courses from coast to coast. Helen McNeal, Executive Director of the Institute said, "The fact that we have nurses, chaplains and social workers from all across the country taking our online courses as well as a growing number of foreign professionals, demonstrates just how important our mission is."
Here is the schedule of the faculty led online courses for professionals:
NURSING
Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) Exam Preparation- Runs May 2 – May 3. Location: Sharp Spectrum; 8520 Tech Way; Room 124 A/B; San Diego. The CHPN Exam preparation course offered by the Institute is presented by hospice and palliative care experts in affiliation with the Hospice & Palliative Nurses Association San Diego Chapter. It is a live event for nurses seeking certification or needing to renew it.
Advanced Practice RN Certificate in Palliative Care (APRN) – Starts May 6. This 10-month program puts the APRN on the path to becoming an expert in palliative care. Participants undertake an in-depth examination of a broad range of current palliative care topics – all in working partnership with experienced palliative care nursing experts.
RN Certificate in Palliative Care – Starts June 10. This 8-week online course prepares RNs to join palliative care teams or bring the best of palliative care to the patients they serve. The course work is designed to allow busy registered nurses flexibility in balancing work responsibilities while furthering their professional development.
SOCIAL WORK
Critical Palliative Care Skills for Social Workers - Starts May 20. This course teaches the most important skills that every social worker needs to know. Participants find this engaging and interactive course an ideal way to build confidence and keep improving their knowledge of palliative care.
CHAPLAINCY
Palliative Care Chaplaincy Specialty Certificate Starts July 15. The CSU Institute for Palliative Care and HealthCare Chaplaincy Network – two leaders in their fields – have created an online certificate course to support chaplains and other spiritual care providers with the delivery of palliative care to patients and their families in hospitals, hospices, long-term care facilities and elsewhere.
