California Credit Union Now Accepting Fall Teacher Grant Applications
**Credit union encourages Los Angeles County teachers to apply for a grant to fund innovative classroom projects**
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- California Credit Union is inviting all Los Angeles area teachers who have a great class project idea to apply for a credit union grant through its bi-annual Teacher Grant Program.
The program is open to any full-time classroom teacher in Los Angeles County who is looking to fund an innovative classroom learning opportunity. The project should have clearly defined learning objectives tied to students' academic needs, display creativity, and benefit a significant number of students. Ten grants of $500 each will be awarded to Los Angeles area teachers in November in the fall program.
"We were founded to serve the education community, and we can't think of a better way to continue that commitment than helping teachers provide an exciting learning opportunity for their students," said California Credit Union President/CEO Steve O'Connell. "We hope this program will make it a little easier for educators to make a difference in the lives of our students, and encourage any teacher who has an innovative project idea to apply for one of our grants."
Interested teachers can find more information and apply online at ccu.com/teachergrant or visit a California Credit Union branch for an application. The application deadline is October 20, 2017.
Since the creation of the program in 2012, California Credit Union has awarded $55,000 in teacher grants to benefit students from 110 schools throughout Los Angeles County. Schools benefiting from last year's program used the funds toward initiatives such as special education, business concepts, solar energy, water conservation and literacy. The bi-annual program offers up to 20 grants in the spring and fall to teachers across Los Angeles County. This year, the program has also been expanded to offer a grant program to teachers in San Diego County as well.
