Budget-Constrained Schools Show Their Hunger for Better Wi-Fi in Ruckus Wireless "Back-to-School Wi-Fi Makeover" Contest
500 Word Submissions and Snappy YouTube Videos Paint Story of Teachers' and Students' Growing Frustration with Poor-Performing Wireless Networks
SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Just one week remains in the national "Back-to-School Wi-Fi Makeover" contest being held by Ruckus Wireless™ (www.ruckuswireless.com), which will culminate in more than $150,000 in next-generation Wi-Fi products and technology being awarded to three deserving K-12 schools in the United States.
Already, several elementary, middle and high schools around the country have submitted short videos and accompanying write-ups that creatively show students and teachers who are fed up with under-performing Wi-Fi networks that can only support a fraction of the student body, and demonstrate how better Wi-Fi can support a 21st century education. Some of the more creative entries can be viewed at the following links:

This includes providing a short YouTube video along with 500 words or less on why the school district deserves a free wireless LAN.
Winning school districts will be announced at the upcoming ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) conference in Philadelphia on June 29th.
All nominees are eligible to win one of three wireless LANs to be awarded:
- 50- AP dual-band 802.11n network with WLAN controller, configuration and full installation
- 25-AP dual-band 802.11n with WLAN controller

"Technology now plays a key role in education, and is necessary to teach students skills in creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving," said David Callisch, vice president of marketing for Ruckus Wireless. "While many schools have wireless-only devices like iPads and laptops that support a 21st century learning experience, a majority of them lack a solid Wi-Fi network to use these devices to their full potential. We're helping alleviate some of that pain by upgrading three deserving schools to a next-generation Wi-Fi system that can support their needs now, and well into the future."
