BT Recognized as a Leader in IDC Analyst Report for Asia Pacific Next Generation Telecom Services
LONDON, Nov. 29, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- BT Global Services today announced it has been positioned as a "leader" in the IDC MarketScape: Asia Pacific Next-Generation Telecom Services 2010 Vendor Analysis.
The IDC vendor assessment for Asia Pacific next-generation telecom services market represents IDC's opinion on which vendors are well positioned today through current capabilities and which are best positioned to gain market share over the next few years. Positioning in the upper right of the grid indicates that vendors are well-positioned to gain market share. BT is positioned in this category as a leader.
According to the IDC MarketScape Analysis, "In the past 12 months, BT has made a number of network IT services portfolio improvements within the Asia Pacific region, including increasing network services coverage, improvement in the area of unified communications (UC) such as interoperability, and increasing the efficiency of its contact center solutions with a next-generation contact center."
Kevin Taylor, managing director, BT Asia Pacific said, "This is a very solid showing and we are thrilled that IDC has recognized BT as a leader in the Asia Pacific market. We have seen strong growth in our operations and are investing further in additional portfolio and resource capability as an overlay on the strong footprint that is already established. This investment is aligned to the growth plans of our multinational customers as they continue to expand across Asia Pacific; this is indeed a clear endorsement of BT's regional strategy to deliver value added managed networked IT services and local delivery capabilities."
The analysis further adds, "In the recent months, the provider also announced its investment commitment within the region, including the hiring of around 300 new positions across Asia to offer full customer support in-region, establishing a bid response center in Singapore to enhance its capabilities to pursue large regional managed services deals, and establishing customer technology showcase centers within the region. In terms of network presence within the Asia Pacific region, it currently has 38 MPLS PoPs in major cities of the 14 markets."
BT was noted in select areas for strong capabilities. These included, "Strong PS team and capabilities. BT is strong in its PS including its QuickStarts suite, a low-cost assessment tool that enables enterprises to quantify their return on investment (ROI) and, at the same time, empower their sales to have first-level PS engagement with customers.
Strong partnerships with technology vendors. These certifications illustrate BT's capabilities and assurance in delivering services at industry standards. Its partnership with technology partners extends beyond pure resale agreement.
A provider with strong commitment in innovation. Innovation is key to BT, and the provider's commitment to innovation is illustrated in its spending of approximately 1 billion pounds Sterling annually in R&D. The provider has an "open innovation" approach and has a comprehensive innovation portfolio including collaboration programs with customers, universities, governments and technology partners, as well as a global scouting team specializing in scouting for new innovations. It has four global research centers in the United Kingdom, China, UAE, and the United States."
BT's Asia Pacific expansion is being aligned closely alongside the growth plans of its multi-national customers as they continue to expand across Asia Pacific region. BT is well positioned in Asia to assist global corporations to expand across Asia while also providing support to Asian-based companies poised to extend their reach globally.
