Brandman University Establishes New Doctor of Education Program, Meets Future Need For Education Doctorates and Innovative Organizational Leaders
Brandman is now accepting applications to an innovative Ed.D. program developed to build strong leaders for the future
IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Brandman University announced today that its new Doctor of Education degree program in Organizational Leadership (Ed.D.) is now accepting applications. The university's second doctoral degree program is an innovative, interdisciplinary degree designed to develop visionary leaders in the fields of education, business, government, non-profit and many others. Brandman's Ed.D. is a nationally unique program that serves the needs of working professionals with 8-week sessions offered in a hybrid format (online + immersion sessions) that allows working professionals to complete the program without interruption. The program's focus is Transformational Change and Leadership.
A team of highly skilled, creative faculty from the University's Schools of Education and Business and Professional Studies, along with leading practitioners in the field will guide students through a field-based Transformational Change Project (TCP). The TCP mirrors the collaboration, innovation, positive influence and strategic thinking needed in today's workplace environment.
According to Christine Zeppos, Dean of Education, "One of the unique characteristics of this new program is that we went out and listened to what employers wanted and needed. We asked them about the kind of curriculum that would prepare their employees to lead in transformational change. Our program will meet that need as students take on a Transformational Change project that gives them that experience. This is a unique approach and one that is relevant to organizations in the future."
"We believe this is a groundbreaking program," said Gary Brahm, Chancellor of Brandman University. "It revolutionizes the way students are prepared for the complex job of leading organizations in chaotic times to achieve breakthrough results. With the introduction of a transformational change project, our students will receive relevant experience in what works and what doesn't. With this real-world education, our students will be prepared to help lead their organizations."
A hybrid format of online instruction and face-to-face support provides easy access to coursework for busy, working professionals. Students will meet six times on weekends during two years of coursework for extensive relationship-building with faculty and students program-wide, in-depth engagement in learning and presentations by expert speakers.
Brandman is making available $10,000 scholarships to students who meet the criteria and have filed complete applications by March 30, 2012. Financial Aid is also available.
The first program starts Fall Session 2012. Initially, the program will launch at Brandman's main campus in Irvine, California, as well as Ontario, Roseville, Santa Maria and Walnut Creek. Potential students can learn more about the program and dates for information sessions at www.brandman.edu/edd-ol or by calling 800-746-0379.
