Boys & Girls Clubs of America Leaders Team Up for National Day of Service Project in Grenada, Miss.
Senior executive team lends a hand to provide needed improvements to Club in Mississippi Delta
ATLANTA, Jan. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Boys & Girls Clubs of America's (BGCA) president and CEO Jim Clark and his executive leadership team participated in a National Day of Service project over the weekend to draw attention to the needs of Clubs in the Mississippi Delta. BGCA's leadership team rehabilitated the Grenada Clubhouse, part of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Delta, during a day-long service project.
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Delta serves more than 1,500 kids a year at six area Club sites, providing critical resources, positive mentors and safe places for the community's youth during the out-of-school time and in the summer. The Grenada Clubhouse was in serious need of resources and tools to help serve the local community. In response, BGCA has worked over the last few months to revitalize the Club, including providing assistance with roof repair, installation of drop ceilings, exterior lighted signage, and updated Wi-Fi.
Aaron's, Inc., a BGCA partner, also donated much-needed furniture, appliances and electronics to the Club, a value of more than $10,000. During the service project Rosetta Hayward, Aaron's General Manager in Grenada also participated to support the Club. Aaron's national partnership with BGCA supports the organization's premier national teen leadership and character program Keystone, which empowers teens to effect positive change in their Club and community through service projects.
"The Clubhouse in Grenada needed our help, and we wanted to take the opportunity during this Day of Service to put a national spotlight on all of the needs in the Mississippi Delta," said Jim Clark, BGCA president and CEO. "Our mission is to enable all kids to achieve a great future. We hope that time spent at the Club and with members of the community will help recharge efforts to support this vital resource for the kids of Grenada."
