Bonial International Group Hires Head of U.S. Corporate Communications for Retale
CHICAGO, April 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Retale (www.retale.com), a leading location-based shopping platform aggregating weekly circulars from over 60 leading retailers for mobile and digital devices, today announced that veteran journalist and communications executive Tim Gray has been appointed as U.S. Head of Corporate Communications.
Mr. Gray, a journalist and communications architect with more than 15 years of media experience, will be responsible for designing and implementing media campaigns, utilizing strategic partnerships, orchestrating content strategies for national audiences, as well as managing internal and external communications.
Retale is the U.S.-based operations of Bonial International Group, a global network for location-based shopping information. The company replicates the print circular experience for consumers in a digital format for both mobile and online users, while providing new functionality that can't be incorporated into print.
Currently, over 60 retailers have joined the Retale platform including Target, Kohl's, Toys "R" Us, Pet Supplies Plus and hhgregg. With a presence in Berlin, Paris, Barcelona, Moscow and Sao Paulo, Bonial has a total of 13 million users worldwide and 245 employees.
"We are thrilled to have Tim leading our communications efforts in the United States," said Patrice Dermody, U.S. President of Retale. "His experiences as both a technology journalist and communications professional make him a unique fit for a company with its cornerstone in technology and its user experience focused squarely on consumers and their shopping habits."
Prior to joining Retale, Mr. Gray was the Communications Director for Blue Fountain Media, and later Associate Director responsible for developing marketing and communications strategies for Internet "Knowledge Engine" Mediander.com. As a journalist he began his career with Gannett Newspapers and Advance Publications, before moving on to larger roles as a senior technology editor and writer.
His work has appeared in some of the world's most respected publications including The Economist, The New York Times, New York Magazine, MSNBC, CBS MoneyWatch, and on CNN, among many others.
"Location-based services like Retale are transforming the mobile industry," said Mr. Gray. "While retailers have already discovered that consumers are increasingly searching for local shopping information on their smartphones, they've only scratched the surface in terms of delivering relevant content in an efficient and effective way to these mobile consumers. It's an exciting time and great opportunity to help bridge this gap, and help the Retale team continue their success."
Using Retale, shoppers can page through the digital version of circulars as they normally would, but also can search by product or retailer, brand or store and store hours, create shopping lists, generate alerts for items, share deals with friends on social media, and even view videos or other product information.
For retailers, Retale provides new opportunities to reach circular readers who are migrating from print to digital, as well as a new generation of shoppers who are more likely to shop using their mobile devices or tablets.
Bonial opened its U.S. headquarters in Chicago in 2013. After launching the Retale app in October, it was downloaded one million times in just 78 days.
