PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Bon Appétit Presents Feast Portland: A Celebration of Oregon Bounty, one of the nation's leading food and drink festivals, announced today it will donate its 2014 net proceeds, $62,143, to charitable partners Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry® campaign and Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon. Feast Portland 2014 welcomed over 12,000 attendees, and hosted 35 events with 84 chefs, 21 artisans, 23 breweries, 39 wineries, and 13 distilleries. During its three years, the festival has donated over $160,000 to help end childhood hunger in Oregon and across the country, and will continue supporting this effort at Feast Portland 2015, September 17-20.
Feast Portland's charitable partners are leading the efforts around hunger prevention and food insecurity. No Kid Hungry is ending childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need, every day. No Kid Hungry connects kids in need to effective nutrition programs like school breakfast and summer meals and teaches low-income families to cook healthy, affordable meals. Since the campaign's launch, No Kid Hungry and its partners have connected kids struggling with hunger with more than 107 million additional meals.
Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon works statewide in Oregon to ensure struggling families have access to nutrition support. Its public-private partnerships with Oregon businesses and community leaders have helped to build a statewide network of children's summer and afterschool meal programs for the 1 in 4 Oregon kids currently at risk of hunger.
Feast partner The Oregonian Media Group contributed $10,000 toward the charitable mission as part of its overall involvement in the festival. Leading up to and during the festival, Feast partner Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon raised awareness for the important work of Feast's charities through their #WhyWeFeast social media campaign and donated $3,000 to that end.
Tickets go on sale in May 2015 for Bon Appétit Presents Feast Portland: A Celebration of Oregon Bounty, returning September 17-20, 2015.
