BOMBAY SAPPHIRE(R) & the Meat Hook Unveil The Latest Culinary Trend: Gin & Meat!
BOMBAY SAPPHIRE gin joins up with New York City's rock star butcher, Tom Mylan, to bring the Meat & Gin phenomenon to consumers like never before
NEW YORK, March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Brooklyn's leading butcher, Tom Mylan of the Meat Hook and master mixologist for BOMBAY SAPPHIRE, James Moreland have updated the longstanding meat and gin movement with a menu of local ingredients and spring-fresh flavors, to offer consumers the world's first Gin & Meat pairing menu and hands-on educational seminars.

"We're proud to offer the best local meat, sausage and charcuterie at the Meat Hook," says Mylan. "BOMBAY SAPPHIRE gin is an interesting enhancement to the richness and depth of our steak, burger and pate."
The concept - a food-focused modern makeover of a classic partnership – is being led by a new age team eager to share their blood, sweat and cocktails with anyone who will listen. This new Meat & Gin menu, supported by seminar classes at The Brooklyn Kitchen, proves one thing: real men eat meat & drink gin. You can attend the class, or visit www.bombaysapphire.com, to find out how exactly the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE botanicals, including grains of paradise, enhance and complement the hearty flavors of Tom's dishes, including a porterhouse steak and juniper-spiced Pate.
When and Where?
The Meat & Gin seminar, led by Tom Mylan and James Moreland, will take place on April 1st from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available now for $50.00, and consumers will have a chance to explore and eat a variety of meat and create their own cocktails. The relationship continues with a gin-only seminar lead by BOMBAY SAPPHIRE mixologist, Milo Rodriguez, taking place on April 8th for $50.00. Both will take place at Brooklyn Kitchen, 100 Frost Street in Brooklyn. Reservations can be secured through http://www.thebrooklynkitchen.com/calendar-of-classes-and-events/ or by calling 718.349.5033.
Now, For The Science Part: Why It Works...
Tom and James dreamed up the menu in response to the legions of their friends and customers looking for stripped down and hearty yet flavorful meal and cocktail inspiration.
Commenting on the menu, James Moreland says, "the meat and gin are in perfect balance with one another, because the peppery notes in the grains of paradise and cubeb berries – two of the ten botanicals that make BOMBAY SAPPHIRE gin unique – impart some kick and spice to the rich, fleshy taste of Tom's meat."
The pairings menu was also designed in keeping with the origin of BOMBAY SAPPHIRE as a London dry gin and the spirit's heyday in the 1700s. Back then, the Gin Palaces of the East End would serve up hunks of mutton or pork, ripped from the bone and ground into either a meat pie or sandwiched between three-day old stale bread! While the Gin Palaces have since been replaced by the trendy speakeasies on Manhattan's Lower East Side, the old Sweeney Todd combo of a wedge of meat and a tumbler of gin will live on with BOMBAY SAPPHIRE gin at The Brooklyn Kitchen this Spring.
