Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Joins Girls' Education Movement Through Partnership with The Girl Rising Fund
The Next Chapter of The Pretty Powerful Campaign for Women & Girls
NEW YORK, March 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of Women's History Month, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics will launch the second iteration of The Pretty Powerful Campaign for Women & Girls through a partnership with Girl Rising, the global social action campaign for girls' education. Launched in 2013, The Pretty Powerful Campaign for Women & Girls is a global charitable initiative that celebrates the evolution of the brand's Pretty Powerful message from one of confidence through makeup to one of empowering women and girls through education.
"Pretty Powerful is a campaign that focuses on confidence," says Bobbi Brown, Founder & CCO of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, "Nothing makes a woman or girl feel more confident than being educated and gaining the knowledge and skills to better her life and the lives of her family and community. Now that is pretty powerful."
The Girl Rising movement uses the power of storytelling to deliver a critical truth: while educating girls in developing nations breaks the cycle of poverty in just one generation, millions face barriers to education that do not exist for boys. Girl Rising supports girls' education dually: through an acclaimed feature film which journeys around the globe to witness the strength of the human spirit and the power of education to change the world by spotlighting the stories of nine unforgettable girls born into unforgiving circumstances, and through a global action campaign that drives educational resources to girls around the world. By partnering with Girl Rising, The Pretty Powerful Campaign for Women & Girls aims to embrace its goals of raising awareness for the importance of girls' education in an effort to remove barriers to girls' education such as early and forced marriage, domestic slavery, sex trafficking, gender violence and discrimination, lack of access to healthcare, and school fees – means not only a better life for girls, but a safer, healthier, and more prosperous world for all.
On March 8th, the partnership will kick off with the introduction of the Pretty Powerful Mascara in the United States, available in a limited edition tube in the brand's signature pink featuring the campaign's logo. Every cent of the retail price of the Pretty Powerful Mascara will be donated to The Girl Rising Fund, a 501c3 fund, operated by Tides Foundation, which drives resources to effective girl-empowerment programs in the developing world. Donations to the fund are evenly distributed among seven NGO partners including A New Day Cambodia, Girl Up, Room to Read, CARE, World Vision, Partners in Health and Plan. The partnership with The Girl Rising Fund will commence in North America, but the brand aims to roll it out globally in March 2015 through a series of events and a new Pretty Powerful cosmetic product in an effort to create increased awareness about the barriers to education that millions of girls around the world face each day that boys do not.
When you educate a girl, you can break cycles of poverty in just one generation. By donating to The Girl Rising Fund, the cycle can be broken, so over the next two years, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics is committed to helping spread one very important message: Educate a Girl. Change the World.
