WASHINGTON, Oct. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Bluewolf (www.bluewolf.com), the global agile consulting firm, today announced a new jobs initiative to help government, non-profits and other Washington, D.C.-based organizations acquire the IT skills they need to more readily adapt to rapid and ongoing change. According to a recent McKinsey & Company report, the U.S. must create 21 million new jobs this decade to bring employment back to pre-recession levels. The consumerization of IT has combined with cloud computing to ignite a revolution in the way technology enables organizations, but technological advancements often outpace the knowledge and skills of today's worker. The result is a talent gap that is especially prevalent among government organizations.
"President Obama recently said IT in the White House is 30 years behind," said Michael Kirven, co-founder and principal of Bluewolf. "Technology has always paved the way toward innovation in this country, and yet our government is struggling to compete in a global economy because many of its organizations lack the skills required to put the latest technologies to good use. Bluewolf is here to help build these skills in the D.C. area, where government IT should be more advanced than anywhere else in the world."
With its network of highly-skilled resources in the highest-demand tech positions (see Bluewolf's 2011 Technology Outlook report), Bluewolf will help D.C.-area government and private-sector organizations obtain the skills needed to adapt to an ever-changing technology landscape. Bluewolf will also help local workers master skills through its role-based Public Training Program. Comprised of workshops and one-on-one "Office Hours," the program offers specialized consulting experts advising on a variety of important business and IT functions for administrators and developers as well as management, marketing and sales professionals.
Bluewolf will kick off its new presence in the nation's capital with its Open House and IT Professional Networking Event on Thursday, October 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. Local congressmen have all been invited to learn how Bluewolf is working to arm local talent with the skills and connections to get hired, and how businesses are transforming to become agile enterprises. Any IT professional wishing to attend can RSVP here. Bluewolf will also be attending IDG's IT Roadmap Conference on December 7 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
The firm, included in CRN's Fast 2011 Growth List, has undergone significant expansion this year with new offices in Long Island and Philadelphia, where Bluewolf was just named among the best places to work. Headquartered in New York, Bluewolf also has offices in San Francisco and the UK.
Bluewolf's new office is located at 4601 N. Fairfax Drive, Suite 1200, Arlington, VA 22203.
