LOS ANGELES, Dec. 14, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- BlackTree TV (www.blacktree.tv), one of the Web's fastest-growing content providers and urban entertainment destinations, today announced it has signed a content distribution deal with SABC 1, the largest South African television network. Under the terms of the agreement, BlackTree TV will provide exclusive red carpet and celebrity interview footage to the live interactive, entertainment show, Mzansi Insider, which reaches more than 21 million viewers a week. This is the first international broadcast distribution partnership for BlackTree TV content.
"We're thrilled to share our exciting content with the largest television network in South Africa," said Jamaal Finkley, president and CEO of BlackTree Media. "SABC 1 is an ideal partner to help distribute BlackTree TV's celebrity interviews and footage from awards shows, movie premieres, parties and more to African audiences. We are excited to broaden our reach to such a coveted and large international market, and are confident this collaboration will positively impact both BlackTree TV and SABC 1 tenfold."
"Our partnership with BlackTree TV has been incredibly well-received by Mzansi Insider viewers. Our ability to provide them with customized, current, A-list content has struck a cord and is definitely one of the differentiators between Mzansi Insider and other shows on South African television," Kobedi Pokane, executive producer of Mzansi Insider.
Added, Lusanda Ganda, marketing executive of SABC 1, "As the national broadcaster, it's key for us to reflect the Black experience in multiple contexts. BlackTree TV gives us a look into the black media, fashion, and entertainment industries in the U.S., which compliments our existing content offering well."
Internationally, BlackTree TV continues to expand its visibility, visiting Paris to interview two of Hollywood's biggest names – Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp – for their new film, 'The Tourist.' To further bolster the site's global presence, BlackTree TV has ventured into non-entertainment content highlighting world news and current affairs. The network recently captured thought-provoking video footage in earthquake ravaged Haiti, and is currently producing 'Country Codes,' an international travel show with award-winning actor Jacky Ido (Inglourious Basterds).
