Blackpoint Announces SNAP-Defense 3.0: Next-Generation Cyber Threat Hunting with Multi-Tenant Capability
Allows MSSPs to Deliver Immediate Response to Threats Including Lateral Movement
ELLICOTT CITY, Md., Jan. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Blackpoint Cyber announced availability of SNAP-Defense 3.0 (SNAP), a multi-tenant offering that allows MSSPs to deliver SNAP's next-generation cyber threat hunting and response to their customers. The new architecture also sets the stage for delivering natural product extensions enabled by SNAP's patented live network mapping.
Currently, SNAP moves the threat hunting process from a backward-looking and expensive analysis of network logs to delivery of threat behavior to the desktop in real time. Version 3.0's multi-tenant architecture will allow Blackpoint's partners to scale the offering across small and medium-sized businesses who lack the staff to support sophisticated threat hunting.
Based on Blackpoint's patented Live Network Map, SNAP enables real time identification of threat behavior used in every major network breach and insider attack: lateral movement with privileged credentials. Hackers rarely enter a network where they want to be; they must discover the victim's network, and invariably, they grab insiders' credentials. They then move laterally to expand access, exfil data, or destroy devices. SNAP identifies, tracks, and alerts all this behavior as it happens.
SNAP's Live Network Map enables you to know, accurately, what is currently active in your network. SNAP then focuses on the behavior that matters from both outside and inside threats: network enumeration, lateral movement, and system administration tradecraft. Finally, SNAP delivers the threat to your desktop with all relevant information on the suspected endpoint or credential. With full information, it's a one-minute decision process, and, if warranted, a one-click detainment of the threat. SNAP also provides an advantage in speed-of-defense, deploying automatically in a few hours - thereby making it relevant in incident response – making sure the "doors are shut" in that critical moment before forensic analysis has even started.
Blackpoint's early MSSP partners expressed interest in scaling out the delivery of SNAP-Defense across their customer bases; therefore, Blackpoint came through with a version of SNAP that allows MSSPs to remotely manage multiple company IT infrastructures at the same time via one interface. "As a security services firm that offers penetration testing, SNAP-Defense is one of the few products that we have tested that detects most (if not all) internal attacks that we perform in a standard engagement," says Steve Porter, President of Secured Net Solutions Inc. "We were so impressed by how effective SNAP-Defense was that we decided to add it as one of our managed services for our clients."
In addition to being an MSSP-deployable system, the architecture of SNAP-Defense 3.0 will enable future product extensions such as using the Live Network Map to generate an asset list for PCI and NIST 800-171 compliance. It will also enable IoT modules to enhance cyber security for energy, healthcare, and smart buildings where ancillary control systems need to interface with critical enterprise networks.
