NEW YORK, April 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- BLACK ENTERPRISE is seeking nominations for a brand new cohort of BE Modern Men of Distinction for 2017, recognizing and honoring the accomplishments of today's man of color across the globe through the media and event company's BE Modern Man interactive campaign. Now in its third year, BE Modern Man provides weekly profiles and features of today's leaders, executives, creatives, politicians, entrepreneurs, professionals and agents of change who live out the BE Modern Man theme, "It's our normal to be extraordinary."
The purpose of this curated digital campaign is to globally shift the standard narrative regarding men of color and project the positive perception that is the authentic reality of those within the BLACK ENTERPRISE community to the world. Those selected for BE Modern Man of Distinction recognition in 2015 and 2016 include Campaign for Black Male Achievement CEO Shawn Dove; author, speaker and youth program leader Jay Barnett; actor and philanthropist Lamman Rucker; and entrepreneur and TV host Paul C. Brunson.
Nominations for the 2017 BE Modern Men of Distinction are being accepted at blackenterprise.com/bemodernman/nominate-a-bemodernman. The deadline for nominations is 11:59 p.m., May 15th, 2017.
"BE Modern Man profiles will be presented weekly along with exclusive content touching on the triumphs, challenges, and successes specific to men of color," says BLACK ENTERPRISE SVP/Executive Editor-at-Large Alfred Edmond Jr. "With their perspective in mind, we will cover personal experiences from men of color, relevant news, and refreshing lifestyle content. We're broadening the spectrum in which men of color are represented and providing a platform for their honest and positive stories."
BLACK ENTERPRISE will spotlight 100 men of diverse cultural backgrounds (African American, Afro-Latino, African, Caribbean, Asian, etc.) as BE Modern Men of Distinction, in celebration of their style, impact, and exceptional contributions to their communities, professions, nation, and the world. Beginning in June, profiles of these 100 exceptional men will be added to the BE Modern Man digital campaign that honors the essence, image, and accomplishments of today's man of color throughout the year. With daily features of today's leaders, executives, creatives, students, politicians, entrepreneurs, professionals, and agents of change, BE Modern Man highlights what these men share in common: the drive to set a high bar in tech, art, philanthropy, business and beyond.
In addition to being profiled online, the selected men will be recognized at the inaugural Black Men Xcel Summit, BLACK ENTERPRISE's newest event; a four-day celebration that honors today's man of color, set to take place Aug. 31 – Sept. 3, 2017, at PGA National Golf Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Also, a select group of 10 ambassadors will represent the 2017 cohort of BE Modern Men of Distinction in the May/June issue of BLACK ENTERPRISE magazine.
