PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Legal-Bay LLC, The Lawsuit Settlement Funding Company, reports today that Bill Cosby has recently been charged in a sexual assault case in Pennsylvania. The criminal charges against him are a result of just one woman's accusation, that he "drugged and sexually abused her at his home in a suburb north of Philadelphia in 2004," according to The NY Times. This is one accusation out of dozens of women's allegations against the celebrity for sexual misconduct and assault. According to the article, the Montgomery County district attorney-elect has said that Cosby faces "felony charges of indecent assault." The woman involved, Andrea Constand, alleges that she went to the comedian's home in early 2004 and he "urged her to take pills and drink wine until she was unable to move" and then sexually assaulted her. The assistant district attorney has said that the evidence is "strong and sufficient to proceed," while Cosby's lawyers insist that the claims are "unjustified" and they will fight the charges. Prosecutors have said that the charges were filed now to beat the 12-year statute of limitations, as the assault occurred in early 2004. The aggravated indecent assault charge can carry a punishment of 5-10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine. Dozens of women prior to the victim in this case have come forward, stating Cosby drugged and/or molested them "decades ago."
