BeneVia Sponsors 2010 National Senior Health & Fitness Day
Nationwide Event Helps More Than 100,000 Older Americans to Stay Active, Healthy
LITTLE ROCK, Ark., May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Tomorrow, more than 100,000 older adults will walk, swim, exercise and learn their way to better health, thanks to the 2010 National Senior Health & Fitness Day, sponsored in part by BeneVia®, the fruit-based healthy nutrition beverage.
Now in its 17th year, National Senior Health & Fitness Day (NSHFD) is a nationwide health and fitness event for older adults. This year, the group expects that more than 100,000 older adults will participate at local events at more than 1,000 locations across the country on the same day.
BeneVia® will distribute thousands of samples to participants at more than 200 NSHFD identified sites. Local organizations will host senior-related health and fitness events at retirement communities, health clubs, senior centers, park districts, hospitals, YMCAs, houses of worship, banks and other community locations.
"We are very excited about BeneVia's sponsorship of National Senior Health & Fitness Day and the opportunity to educate consumers about nutrition for healthy aging and active lifestyles," said Taylor Carter, HealthSpan Events Coordinator
"Activity and BeneVia have been shown to enhance muscle energy and strength and can lead to reduced health risks," she continued. "For those not able to attend an official Senior Event Day site, we've organized a free sample and coupons site online at www.trybenevia.com."
The fit with NSHFD is a natural one for BeneVia®, which encourages older adults to stay active and healthy through better nutrition.
"For older adults, a healthy and active lifestyle is important for long term health," said John Troup, Ph.D., President & CEO of HealthSpan Solutions, LLC, makers of BeneVia®. "It takes daily attention to nutrition and physical activity. BeneVia® and tomorrow's nationwide event are a great combination that can help older adults feel great and stay healthy."
"BeneVia products are uniquely designed to deliver the nutrition baby boomers need to stay active," continued Troup. "Recent scientific studies have shown that the superior protein sources only in BeneVia improve the benefits of exercise by building muscle twice as much compared to exercise alone."
Study results are available online at www.gobenevia.com.
According to a new survey to be released by HealthSpan tomorrow, baby boomers are already using better nutrition to manage healthy outcomes. A survey of more than 2,000 BeneVia® users reveals that six in 10 consumers age 45 to 65 feel five years younger than they are.
