Belmont Stakes, Centerplate Goes Local with New York Cuisine
BELMONT PARK, N.Y., June. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- With the anticipation of over 60,000 fans at Belmont Park for the final leg of horse racing's Triple Crown, Centerplate is proud to announce a new, chef-inspired hospitality menu for the 2013 Belmont Stakes, grounded in treasured local flavors from New York State. Sourced locally, the menu pays tribute to the rich traditions of both horseracing and the state of New York. In addition to Belmont Park's classic fan favorites, Centerplate's signature cocktail for the Belmont Stakes, the "Belmont Jewel," a crowd-pleasing cocktail featuring small-batch bourbon blended with pomegranate and lemonade will also be available.

For this race, Centerplate will employ approximately 1,000 staff to accommodate and delight the expected crowd. Centerplate's hospitality plan will require the services of over 30 chefs, 150 separate point of sale locations, and over 30 local suppliers. Centerplate's team will also draw on the company's deep experience executing world-class hospitality on massive scale at events like the Super Bowl, World Series and the Olympics.

Showcased in Belmont Park's Garden Terrace, the hospitality program from Centerplate's Executive Chefs will highlight local flavors with dishes like:
Island Inspired Greens from Jamaica, Queens featuring sorrel leaves, papaya and mango in local honey with Key lime juice
Fish Wiches from Jamaica, Queens featuring fresh fillets of flying fish served on soft potato rolls with Siracha and scallion-tartar sauces and house-made ginger pickles
Beijing Red Noodles from Long Island City featuring Lo mein noodles tossed with crispy, fresh vegetables, chili-infused oil and Mandarin herbs
Braciola with Sunday sauce from Mulberry Street, Little Italy featuring flank steak stuffed with spinach, parsley, Provolone and Pecorino Romano cheese served in a traditional tomato sauce
Mojito Pork Roast from Spanish Harlem, Manhattan featuring rum, lime-and mint-marinated pork lion, slowly roasted and served with crispy fried plantains
Bristol Bay Raw Bar featuring American freshly shucked oysters and littleneck clams, served with cracked black pepper and mignonette sauce
Chocolate Bark with cranberry, pretzel, sea salt and almond made in-house
Centerplate also teamed up with NYRA to identify a selection of New York's most popular food trucks. Belmont Park hosted the inaugural Belmont Food Truck Festival last weekend presented by Smirnoff Sorbet Light with great acclaim. The trucks will return this weekend and are open to everyone at the track. The festival will give patrons the opportunity to select from a wide array of enticing culinary offerings. Including:
