PLAYA VISTA, Calif., March 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Belkin®, a trusted leader of cyber security solutions for the intelligence community and other government agencies, today announced that its Secure KVM Switching solutions have earned NIAP Common Criteria Certification under the Protection Profile for Peripheral Sharing Switch Version 3.0 (PP3.0). This certification validates that Belkin Secure KVM Switching solutions meet the stringent testing and technical requirements for security mandated by the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) along with 25 other governments worldwide.
A leader in the Secure KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switching market for more than a decade, Belkin is driving the industry forward by setting the benchmark for the new PP3.0 certification and rolling out new PP3.0 products that provide a superior user experience.
History of Leadership in Secure KVM Switching
Since 2006, Belkin has been a leading provider of Secure KVM switches. In 2011, the company introduced Secure KVM Switching solutions that had a higher security standard than competitive solutions. As a result, the latest NIAP PP3.0 certification – which focuses on threats from unauthorized and untrusted peripheral devices – is modeled after Belkin's PP2.1 Secure KVM Switching solutions. Some PP3.0 requirements that were adopted from the Belkin PP2.1 product line include: uni-directional data paths, support for user authentication devices, secure EDID protection for displays, and active anti-tamper protection.
Belkin was part of a larger industry group that collaborated with NIAP to develop the protocols and specifications for the PP3.0. "What we're especially proud of is that our KVM technology framework is the benchmark for the new certification. It's great to see the industry adopt our security standards," said Nandan Kalle, director of commercial networking, Belkin. "As other players are now mandated to follow the same security standards, what now sets Belkin apart is our unique ability to provide a superior user experience while minimizing errors during the installation of and interaction with our Secure KVM Switching solutions."
New Secure KVM Switching Solutions Deliver New Capabilities to Federal Agencies
Government networks are growing more complex, which can lead to performance and reliability issues as new technology is rolled out. For classified government networks and data, it's critical that KVM products are easy to install and use.
Belkin introduces three new PP3.0 certified product lines into its Secure KVM Switching portfolio, both of which bring new functionality to government users:
- Secure Flip KVM (Available in VGA, DVI, and UHD 4KModels) – first secure KVM with integrated cables that allow users to switch networks by pushing a button via a remote control.
- Secure Keyboard/Mouse Switch – Monitor and use multiple secure systems on separate displays simultaneously with a single keyboard and mouse.
- Secure Windowing KVM with Advanced Viewing Technology – enables users for the first time to securely view up to four networks simultaneously on one or two monitors in real time with no loss of quality. (Certification planned for April 4)
Belkin products are designed with usability in mind. With small form factors and superior user interfaces, Belkin Secure KVM products are easy to deploy and interact with, which minimizes human error during installation and use.
Kalle continued, "There is no margin for error due to installation problems and misuse in secured environments. These new products along with the PP3.0 benchmark achievement underscore Belkin's proven ability to provide the most advanced Secure KVM solutions in the industry."
