BOSTON, Oct. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Beacon Health Options congratulates its Employee Assistance Program (EAP) client, Ernst & Young LLP (EY), for winning the 2017 Excellence in Employee Assistance in Business Development Award for its "r u ok?" campaign. The International Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA) presented the award to EY for its impactful nine-month, communications-based campaign that built awareness and reduced stigma about mental illness and addictions at EY.
The campaign encourages workers to check in with their colleagues and offer support to those who might be struggling. Supporting an important enterprise business objective, "r u ok?" reinforced that a healthy lifestyle enables high-performance teaming and contributes to the exceptional EY experience and overall employee engagement. It also provided EY resources for managers and employees on how to deal with workplace behavioral health issues by creating a culture of caring.
"This recognition is well deserved. Beacon was proud to support EY in its efforts to reduce stigma and increase help-seeking behavior at the company," said Rich Paul, Chief Partnership Officer for the Employer/Federal division for Beacon Health Options. "Employers like EY, who value the impact and investment of EAP services and are committed to stigma reduction, are a part of the reason we do what we do at Beacon--helping people live their lives to their fullest potential."
The EAPA gives the award annually to recognize a marketing, communications or advertising initiative, content marketing, web site, blog or social media initiative that promotes employee assistance. Both Individuals and EAP programs are eligible for the award.
"We are honored to receive the 2017 Excellence in Employee Assistance in Business Development Award from EAPA," said Carolyn Slaski, EY Americas Vice Chair of Talent. "At EY, we strive to develop and implement programs that help our people succeed both at home and at work. EY's 'r u ok?' program has allowed us to remove the stigmas around mental health and addiction-related issues in the workplace. The program has provided our EY professionals in the US with the tools and resources needed to identify when and if a colleague may need assistance, as well as how to have more meaningful conversations."
