B&B Hospitality Group Reports Findings from Investigation of Payment Card Security Incident
NEW YORK, July 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- B&B Hospitality Group (B&BHG) announced today that it has identified and addressed a payment card security incident that affected certain restaurants in the New York metropolitan area. The announcement follows the conclusion of an investigation by a leading cyber security firm and the payment card networks.
The investigation identified the operation of malware designed to access payment card data from cards used on point-of-sale (POS) devices at nine different restaurants. The malware searched for track data (which includes the card number, expiration date, internal verification code, and sometimes cardholder name) read from the magnetic stripe of a payment card as it was being routed through the POS device. There is no indication that other customer information was affected. The timeframe of the malware's operation differed at each restaurant, but the general time frame was between March 1, 2017 and May 8, 2018. The timeframe of the malware's operation at each restaurant can be found by visiting that restaurant's website. The names and relevant web pages of the nine restaurants that may have been affected are:

Customers concerned that they may have used a payment card at any of the above restaurants should visit that restaurant's website to confirm the applicable timeframe. Each site also contains information regarding steps that customers can take to help protect their payment card information.
It is always advisable to remain vigilant to the possibility of fraud by reviewing your payment card account statements for any unauthorized activity. Customers should immediately report any unauthorized charges to their card issuer because payment card network rules generally provide that cardholders are not responsible for unauthorized charges reported in a timely manner. The phone number to call is usually on the back of your payment card.
B&BHG has removed the malware from all of the restaurants and is taking steps to enhance measures for securing payment card data. In addition, B&BHG is working closely with the payment card networks regarding this matter so that the banks that issue payment cards can be made aware.
