Barneys New York Gears up for the Holiday Season with MICROS-Retail's miStore
Fashion retailer uses mobile POS to accelerate speed of service in flagship Manhattan store
WESTBORO, Mass., Dec. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- MICROS-Retail, a division of MICROS Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MCRS), and leading provider of retail technology for the specialty and general merchandise retail industry, is pleased to announce the Barneys New York launch of MICROS-Retail miStore mobile point-of-sale (POS) solution in its flagship New York store, starting this holiday season. Barneys New York is a long-time customer of MICROS-Retail for point of sale, loss prevention and order management solutions.
This holiday season, Barneys New York has created a multi-faceted celebration. GAGA'S WORKSHOP includes: holiday windows, a dedicated Gaga interactive website, and a fantastically transformed retail environment with limited-edition exclusive products created in collaboration with Lady Gaga under the creative direction of Nicola Formichetti with artists Eli Sudbrack and Christophe Hamaide Pierson of assume vivid astro focus.
A take on Santa's iconic workshop, it launched on November 21, taking over the entire 5,500-square foot, fifth floor of the Madison Avenue Men's store. In the Workshop are eight stations reflecting the product categories available which will greatly benefit from the mobility and flexibility of MICROS-Retail miStore.
In addition to the workshop, Barneys has also redesigned and reopened the Madison Avenue 8th Floor CO-OP area. In the redesigned space, the men's and women's departments will be adjoined, creating a connected 22,000-square foot CO-OP along with its first cafe, genes@co-op, with digitally engineered table top to support a touch screen surface for customers. The new clean environment lends itself well to the portability and technology of MICROS-Retail miStore.

Barneys New York is using the holiday season to launch MICROS-Retail miStore mobile POS, with plans to expand to stores across the country. The mobile system allows more freedom for employees to navigate throughout the store to better service shoppers, as associates are able to conduct sales and locate inventory via portable Apple products, predominately the iPod Touch.
