"At Barclaycard we believe it is our responsibility to help bridge the financial literacy gap, both as an educator and facilitator, through meaningful leadership and content," said Peggy Maher, chief marketing officer of Barclaycard US. "From introducing the first crowd-sourced credit card, Barclaycard Ring to launching the Dream Account that rewards smart saving choices, we have proven we care about being a different kind of financial institution. The Be Your Possible campaign reinforces this commitment."
The Barclaycard US Facebook page (Facebook.com/BarclaycardUS) is serving as the hub for the four-week campaign, which will focus on different weekly themes: Be Your Own Boss (Small Business); Empowering Yourself (Education/Career); Investing in Your Future (Investing/Savings); and Your Money Smarts (Personal Finance and Credit Savvy). The campaign is joined by women leaders and experts who will serve as campaign mentors, such as Jill Flynn and Mary Davis Holt, co-authors of Break Your Own Rules; Joi Gordon, CEO of Dress for Success Worldwide; Elizabeth Cutler, founder of SoulCycle; and Mariela Dabbah, founder of the Red Shoe Movement. The campaign also features popular bloggers, such as NerdWallet; Moneywise Moms; Mom Biz Coach; and The Dollar Stretcher. The Barclaycard Facebook page will house inspiration and advice from these experts promoting all aspects of financial health, as well as encouraging women to share their aspirations for achieving their personal financial goals.
In addition, a Be Your Possible contest will run on Facebook in conjunction with the campaign from now through April 8, 2014. Barclaycard is asking fans to submit their personal goals for a chance to win financial support to help make their dreams possible. Each week one fan's submission will be selected and awarded a monetary prize of $10,000 to help them reach their financial possible. Click here to read the contest rules.
In addition to individual winners, Barclaycard will make a donation of $10,000 to YWCA Delaware for their adult financial literacy program that supports the education and individual coaching of women.
"Alongside our Women's Initiative Network, Be Your Possible brings our expertise, networks and resources together to help educate women on financial literacy in America," said Kathy Kreusch Cobb, chief people officer for Barclaycard. "Beyond our colleagues, we wanted to build a community for women to engage in dialogue to help them reach their financial possible. By creating this space, we hope to empower women to make smart financial decisions."
