Bandai Foundation Donates $35,000 to the Toy Industry Foundation to Bring Play to Children in Need
Portion of funds to sponsor signature program for 2013
NEW YORK, Dec. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Toy Industry Foundation (TIF), a nonprofit organization that brings joy, comfort, and learning to children in need through toys and play, applauds the generosity of The Bandai Foundation for their recent major gift of $35,000.
A portion of the funds will directly support TIF's year-round signature program, The Toy Bank, which has distributed more than one and a half million brand new playthings for underserved and at-risk children this year alone. Additional funds will support the overall work of the Toy Industry Foundation, including national grant initiatives through TIF's national partners, Boys & Girls Clubs of America Military Services and CASA for Children.
This is the fourth consecutive year that The Bandai Foundation has made a significant cash contribution to TIF. With financial donations totaling nearly $150,000, the charitable arm of the toy company Bandai America Incorporated is one of the Toy Industry Foundation's most impactful donors.
"2013 marks the 10th anniversary of our Toy Bank program," said TIF Executive Director Jean Butler. "Overall, more than $75 million in toys have been given to children in need in the U.S. and around the world. Thanks to The Bandai Foundation's ongoing commitment to our cause, the program will reach more children than ever before!"
"Bandai is proud to support the Toy Industry Foundation and commends the work they do in reaching out to children in need," said Masayuki Matsuo, Chairman of The Bandai Foundation.
As the official sponsor of The Toy Bank in 2013, support from the Bandai Foundation will play a major role in the delivery of toys to children in need, including youth who are homeless, battling illness, living in foster care, and those who have parents serving in the military.
About the Toy Industry Foundation www.toyindustryfoundation.orgWhile other organizations provide food, shelter and support services to children and their families, the Toy Industry Foundation sees to it that these children have toys and opportunities to play in an attempt to restore both fun and a sense of normalcy to their lives. The Foundation currently fulfills its mission through core programs including The Toy Bank™ and grants to organizations whose missions are in line with that of the Toy Industry Foundation.
The first industry-wide program of its kind, The Toy Bank receives donations of newly manufactured toys from members of the toy industry and distributes them through local charities to underserved, at-risk and homeless children throughout the United States and around the world. The Toy Bank is administered in partnership with Kids in Distressed Situations.
